new projects...

Mason and I went walkin' through the woods in search of treasure. We have been doing this a lot lately because there is so much stuff that has been brought down to the house and then just put out in buildings or just left to rot away outside. I hate seeing good things go to waste so if I see something I like, I bring it home and save it or re purpose it. This lawn chair and couch is a good example. It only needs some minor repairs then it will be something we can enjoy for years to come.
This stump has taken a beating over the years so I came up with a plan that seems to be unanimously acceptable. Mason had mentioned carving something very elaborate into it like an animal of some sorts. We do not posses the skill nor the tools in which to do that so I decided to try to carve inspirational words into the wood. I'm not sure how it will turn out but I thought I would at least try. I'm thinking all I will need is a screwdriver and a hammer... This ought to be an interesting project.

A family friend came down earlier this afternoon and we went shootin'. I shot EVERYTHING except the Mosin Nagant Billy brought...we have 2 but haven't done much with them and there was no sense in bringin' more than 1... anyhow.  Along with the ones in the pictures I shot the .22 Ruger and the .44 Magnum. Man do I love shootin the .44 THAT THING IS AWESOME!!!

Ginger and her puppies :)

Little Casey/ Elvis died on Friday and his puppies were born last night... very sad when you think about it but we are so happy to have these two little pups here. We sure waited long enough. Ginger is so proud of them. ALL Taylor and Madyson want to do is hold them... its very difficult telling them no when all I want to do is hold them too.

Stomach bugs and Ants...

I had one of those 24 hour stomach bugs yesterday and up until about 1 this morning... It was awful and I still don't feel good but I couldn't miss school.  Anyway I felt decent enough to go check on the garden this morning before I left and my poor feet got ate up in ants. They are all in my beds too. I HATE ANTS!!! It must have been all that rain that brought them out to build new mounds.  I couldn't care any less about ants being part of the world just as long as they build their houses in the woods or places just away from me and where I have to be and work.  I have been doing some research on organic pest control and Ive found a few things that I think would potentially work so I'm going to Walmart tonight after class to see if they have anything similar.  I just want something to get rid of the ants that wont harm my plants....Hopefully I can find something that works fast!!!

Yesterday and This Morning...

Three of my little mini greenhouses.

This is one of two "greenhouses" that I just had to throw together this morning before the rain started falling.  I plan on getting more pipe and more plastic and replacing these soon.
These are my CLEAN gardening jeans.  They get way dirtier...lol
I placed big trash cans at the corners of the house to collect rainwater for the garden so I don't have to use a lot of well water later on.  The big black one filled up in less than 10 minutes earlier this morning.  We had a TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR, of which I got caught in the middle as you can see in the other picture. I WAS SOAKED... someone told me I looked like I taken a shower fully clothed.  I plan on making something more permanent later but this shall do for now :)

Operation Bird Rescue and Garden Preparation

As we were all outside working on various things, we noticed that our cat had caught a bird.  The bird wasn't moving so we thought it was already dead.  Since we thought this, we really didn't do much of anything to try to help the bird.  All of a sudden it started flapping its wings and making this awful noise.  Daddy and I chased the cat under the wood truck and thankfully she dropped the bird.  These are just a few pictures I was able to snap before it flew away.

Daddy usin' the sling blade to get rid of some of the tall grass in the garden.  This is the future location of the strawberry plants...as soon as I fing the time to till up the soil and move them.
Mason weed-eating in the garden for me :) what a wonderful little brother...
Mason takin' a break to give Dixie a little lovin <3
Only 3 more months and then she can be a free doggy again. No more pen all the time!!! She and I both with be so happy when that time comes.

Blue-ish/Green eggs, plants, and a pregnant puppy.

The hen that lays the blue-ish/green eggs is having issues.  She is egg-pecking.  Every time she lays she turns right around and eats the egg and shell.  I have been able to get there in time to save a few but I have got to stop her from doing this because checking for eggs as often as I have been is getting tedious.

The plants are growing great inside and its about time that they go be introduced to their permanent home.  Which means I have to get the garden ready... I have a lot of work ahead of me but I'm so excited!!!

Broccoli, arugula, tomatoes, and iceberg lettuce

Ginger is due any day now!!! She is SO pregnant. We think she is only having two pups but for her little size, two may be one too many lol. These are just some pictures of her playing cat and mouse with a butterfly and then following me down to the pond.

Our new Z28

Pop and daddy bought this little beauty the other day and this was the end of the journey to its new home.  Having it towed home by the truck was a whole lot easier than them hauling it home themselves.  All it needs is a transmission to run (hopefully) and then a little TLC to make her pretty all the way around.  I cant wait to drive her!!!

Pop talking to the nice man that brought it home for us. They are old friends but for the life of me I cant remember his name.

Z28 Camero is apparently the correct term (according to daddy) just calling it a Camero is an insult to the owner,

350 engine....I actually learned something lol :)

Chickies :)

Its Chick Days at Tractor Supply!!! I brought home 8 of these little cuties today. I am so excited to have them. They are having to stay in my bathroom cause its safe and I can regulate the temperature but oh my goodness its so hot if you stay in there for too long.  I don't see how those little puffballs need that much heat.  For me having these little guys is like bringing home a newborn, I can't wait to here them peep and chirp all night <3

Adventure...

Nana and I went to cut down some bamboo on an old back road near our house to stake up some blueberry trees we planted and on the way back we came across an old grave site.  It is also where a big revival took place with over 1000 people in attendance.  We just thought it was the neatest thing ever!!
