Busy Busy Weekend...

I decided just to put everything up at once this time, even though this really isn't everything...just the most important stuff.

I decided to put a path through the back yard to the chicken coop... I am so tired of having to deal with the grass.

Daddy doing a little work with the new bobcat... boys and there toys. That thing is sure going to come in handy!!

Mason decided to be funny and place my shirt in high places around the house... This was the final resting place before I took it inside. He placed all the blame on our cat too.

Speaking of Mason, he decided to stop playing video games long enough to help daddy.

The arugula is the fastest growing thing in the garden.

The bobcat needed a new muffler and instead of paying a few hundred dollars for one, Daddy decided to make one. It cost about $50 I think, possible less but it turned out real well.

One of my little red pullets decided all of a sudden to be brave and sit on my knee. They aren't too shy but they dont make the effort to come see you. This put a smile on my face.

I found these attached to tables that I found and decided to use in the garden. They now have a new home in the chicken tractors as feeders. They work perfectly!

The chicks exploring the cinder block that holds up one side of the little perch.

Mason playin with our little cousin :) She is such a cute little bug!!

And the she and I decided to play with the puppies :)

This is the chicken coop after I scrubbed it clean (this has never been done before) and then again with the hay... All of this took place before the chicks were moved.

new projects...

Mason and I went walkin' through the woods in search of treasure. We have been doing this a lot lately because there is so much stuff that has been brought down to the house and then just put out in buildings or just left to rot away outside. I hate seeing good things go to waste so if I see something I like, I bring it home and save it or re purpose it. This lawn chair and couch is a good example. It only needs some minor repairs then it will be something we can enjoy for years to come.
This stump has taken a beating over the years so I came up with a plan that seems to be unanimously acceptable. Mason had mentioned carving something very elaborate into it like an animal of some sorts. We do not posses the skill nor the tools in which to do that so I decided to try to carve inspirational words into the wood. I'm not sure how it will turn out but I thought I would at least try. I'm thinking all I will need is a screwdriver and a hammer... This ought to be an interesting project.

SKS
A family friend came down earlier this afternoon and we went shootin'. I shot EVERYTHING except the Mosin Nagant Billy brought...we have 2 but haven't done much with them and there was no sense in bringin' more than 1... anyhow.  Along with the ones in the pictures I shot the .22 Ruger and the .44 Magnum. Man do I love shootin the .44 THAT THING IS AWESOME!!!

Ginger and her puppies :)

Little Casey/ Elvis died on Friday and his puppies were born last night... very sad when you think about it but we are so happy to have these two little pups here. We sure waited long enough. Ginger is so proud of them. ALL Taylor and Madyson want to do is hold them... its very difficult telling them no when all I want to do is hold them too.

Stomach bugs and Ants...

I had one of those 24 hour stomach bugs yesterday and up until about 1 this morning... It was awful and I still don't feel good but I couldn't miss school.  Anyway I felt decent enough to go check on the garden this morning before I left and my poor feet got ate up in ants. They are all in my beds too. I HATE ANTS!!! It must have been all that rain that brought them out to build new mounds.  I couldn't care any less about ants being part of the world just as long as they build their houses in the woods or places just away from me and where I have to be and work.  I have been doing some research on organic pest control and Ive found a few things that I think would potentially work so I'm going to Walmart tonight after class to see if they have anything similar.  I just want something to get rid of the ants that wont harm my plants....Hopefully I can find something that works fast!!!

Yesterday and This Morning...

Three of my little mini greenhouses.

This is one of two "greenhouses" that I just had to throw together this morning before the rain started falling.  I plan on getting more pipe and more plastic and replacing these soon.
These are my CLEAN gardening jeans.  They get way dirtier...lol
I placed big trash cans at the corners of the house to collect rainwater for the garden so I don't have to use a lot of well water later on.  The big black one filled up in less than 10 minutes earlier this morning.  We had a TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR, of which I got caught in the middle as you can see in the other picture. I WAS SOAKED... someone told me I looked like I taken a shower fully clothed.  I plan on making something more permanent later but this shall do for now :)
